There were a few mid week matches in the NWCFL Premier division this week. Towns next home opponents Litherland lost 7-1 at home to Ashton Athletic last night with Dale Butler grabbing 4 goals and Chris Bandell a Hat trick as Ashton ran riot. Jordan Darr is also a man in form and got two goals for Charnock Richard in their 3-1 win away at Runcorn Town. Irlam soundly beat Skelmersdale 4-0 on Tuesday evening. On monday Whitchurch went back to the top of the league also with a 4-0 win against Burscough.

This weekend sees a return to league action for everyone after the FA Vase, with Whitchurch without a game it could see a return to the top from Rylands, owned by Wayne Rooneys agent, they face a tough game against Congleton. Irlam are in FA Cup action so the chasing pack will all be looking at gate crashing the top 3. With the top 3 going up this year it should stay very competitive deep into the season. Everybody seems to beating each other so it could prove to be a very exciting season in the NWCFL Premier Division.
